Phillip BewickSenior Electrical and Control EngineerSince graduating in 2009, Phill has worked across the globe within the automation and offshore industries. Joining RED in 2021, Phil is responsible for all electrical and control activities within the business. Mike CrosbyPrincipal EngineerMike is an experienced engineer respected in both the oil & gas and nuclear decommissioning industries for his ability to deliver effective solutions to the most challenging engineering problems. Haydn FordSenior EngineerHaydn initially trained as a Naval Architect but now works as a Senior Engineer. As well as a wide range of engineering and analytical experience he has had a number of client-facing delivery roles involving the design and build of special-purpose tools and equipment. He likes fast BMW’s but is now considering more grown-up choices. Anthony ForsterTechnicianAnthony is a Technician and a key member of the Test Facility team. Since joining in 2019, he has supported the delivery of complex and diverse testing projects for both offshore and nuclear industry clients. Jack HillEngineering TechnicianFollowing a career in the Defence Industry, Jack joined RED in 2013 and is a key member of the team with responsibility for the day to day operation of the Test Facility. Jack is a keen golfer with an average handicap in his day of 5-7. Will HoppsProject ManagerWill is a Project Manager with an extensive track record in offshore engineering, having spent a number of years working in Aberdeen. Originally a mechanical engineering graduate of Newcastle University, he has now returned to live and work in the North East. Ben JohnsonOperations DirectorBen has a background in mechanical engineering and over 18 years’ experience delivering large, complex engineering projects. Ben has delivered many interesting projects in Automotive, Aerospace testing, Nuclear, Oil and Gas and Renewable sectors, and as a result he is well placed to head up the operational functions within RED Richard KentQHSE ManagerRichard is one of the original founders of RED Marine and he has an excellent track record (28 years) of innovative problem solving across a wide range of complex engineering projects. Now a part time member of the team, Richard continues to lead continual improvement activities and ensure compliance of our QHSE system. Alistair KitchingBusiness DeveloperAfter gaining a Masters in Mechanical & Manufacturing Engineering at Newcastle University, Alistair spent 10 years with the worlds largest oilfield service provider in the UK and Norway before coming home to the North East in 2015 to join work as a Business Development Manager. He joined RED in 2020 and brings all his experience and enthusiasm to support our continued diversification into new sectors of the engineering world. Robbie LangfordStudent EngineerSponsored by RED, Robbie is currently studying a Masters Degree in General Engineering at the University of Sheffield and comes back to RED in his time off from Uni to gain first-hand experience in the Engineering sector. Robbie is currently the fastest runner in the company and also enjoys cycling and sailing. Adam LockettEngineerAdam is an Engineer with experience in the Defence, Oil & Gas and Renewable sectors and extensive knowledge of efficient manufacturing processes. Lindsay LowesBusiness Finance ManagerLindsay has worked at RED since 2008 after spending 13 years in the Construction industry. Lindsay graduated in 2005 and is responsible for financial control of the business, and plays a key role as a member of the senior management team. Kirstie MillerOffice AdministratorKirstie has been at RED since 2011 after working in both Local Government and Hospitality. She is responsible for the day to day administration of the office and manages both the purchase ledger and payroll. Tim NewsomeLead EngineerTim’s engineering career has taken him from the automotive industry, through subsea and offshore equipment to his current role in the design of bespoke tools and test-rigs Joe OrrellManaging DirectorJoe started his career as a technician working at Newcastle University on drivetrain test rigs for clients such as Ford, NASA, and the MOD. He has a wide range of experience in the offshore sector working on subsea remote tooling, pipe lay equipment and handling systems. In 2008 Joe co-founded Red Marine and remains responsible for the way the business operates and develops into the future. Steve PocockPrincipal EngineerSteve was an engineering officer in the merchant navy prior to gaining a first class degree in mechanical engineering. He has responsibility of the company’s Testing Services provision. This involves the design and build of bespoke test-rigs and the execution of arduous testing regimes on a wide variety of materials and equipment. Will RaynerdPrincipal EngineerWill joins us as a Principal Engineer with over 20 years’ experience of the specification, design, integration, production and commissioning of high integrity equipment in both the offshore and defence sectors. Mark StoboPrincipal EngineerMark is proud to have made a significant contribution to equipment design and delivery as a Principal Engineer in the defence equipment, offshore oil and gas, renewables and subsea sectors. A recent first-time father, he enjoys cycling and mountain biking in the little spare time still at his disposal. Neil SouterDraughtspersonSince joining RED back in 2010, Neil has further developed his energy industry understanding and has played a fundamental role in setting up the company drafting standard procedures. Neil is a keen cyclist & regularly cycles the 50 mile round trip to work as training for racing events. Ross TheobaldProject EngineerA qualified Architectural Engineer, Ross has spent the past 15 years specialising in managing environmentally sensitive engineering projects. Ross joined RED in 2020 and was straight onto one of our largest subsea cable testing programmes tapping into his skills in the offshore renewable energy sector. Matthew ToyneLead EngineerMatthew is a qualified Marine Engineer, and over the past few years has become RED Engineering’s lead analyst. Although born in Yorkshire, he is secretly an American at heart. Dorian WalkerLead EngineerSince starting at RED in 2013, Dorian has accumulated a wide range of engineering knowledge. Predominately based in the Test Facility Dorian has been involved in a wide variety of testing, including pressure testing, life fatigue testing and friction testing, in addition to implementing control systems by creating bespoke LabVIEW programs. Chris WalkerEngineerChris joined us in 2019. Before joining us here at RED he completed his apprenticeship in the Marine Equipment Sector and has experience in a high number of large-scale fabrication projects throughout the whole design cycle. He graduated from the University of Northumbria in 2021 with a First Class (Hons) degree in Mechanical Engineering. Jessica WaltonOperations Support ManagerStarting working life as an Engineering Apprentice, with extensive experience in an Engineering and Manufacturing role, Jess has a passion for promoting the vision, values and culture of RED throughout our QHSE management, systems, facilities and supply chain. Mike WatsonSenior EngineerWith a strong background in naval architecture and marine structures, Mike is a highly experienced and skilled mechanical engineer. He has played a key part in REDs success over the years and is a valued member of our engineering team.
